Celebrating 129 years of service to the people and community of Bermuda, events will kick off with Police displays, including specialist units showing off their skills, on Police field, Prospect, on Tuesday, October 28, from noon to 5 p.m.

The following day, the winners of an essay-writing competition will get to shadow the eight highest-ranking members of the Police as they go about their duties.

Bermuda Police Service is inviting all primary and middle school students to write an essay, maximum of 100 words, outlining why they would like to be Commissioner of Police for a day. Entrants have to be e-mailed to pmr@bps.bm or dropped off at Police headquarters at Prospect by Friday this week.

Next Wednesday, the Beating of the Retreat will take place on Front Street at 8.30 p.m., with the Commissioner of Police and various dignitaries present for a traditional display by the Bermuda Regiment Band and Corps of Drums.

And next Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. all three Police stations, Hamilton, Somerset and Southside, will be open to the public.
