Prince Edward and Countess of Wessex to visit Bermuda

Prince Edward is due to visit the Island next month to celebrate The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Bermuda.The seventh in line for the Throne, he will be accompanied here by his wife, the Countess of Wessex the former Sophie Rhys-Jones from March 16 to 18 and will stay at Langton Hill, the official residence of the Governor.The Earl is the third son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. His father developed the award scheme, which operates in 132 countries, in 1956.Young people who have achieved the Gold Award standard will be presented their awards from Prince Edward and others will also meet him.This will be his third visit having come here in 1992 and 2003. This will be The Countess of Wessex's first visit to the Island. Further details of the Royal Visit will be announced at a later date.
