Passenger injured in collision

A passenger in a car was rushed to hospital after the vehicle she was riding was in collision with a truck.

At 3.50 p.m. on Thursday, as a car attempted to overtake another vehicle on Middle Road in Southampton near Barnes Corner, it hit the truck travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the car, a 34-year-old Southampton man was not injured, but his female passenger was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for her injuries. She had been released by yesterday.

The 22-year-old Smith's woman who was driving the truck was not injured although her vehicle was moderately damaged on the front.

The car, however, received extensive damage on the front.

Inquiries into this incident are underway.

Police were called about two burglaries on Thursday in Hamilton and Pembroke.

The first was a call at 4.10 p.m. from a complainant who said her Crisson Avenue home in Pembroke had been broken into between 7.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. that day.

It was unoccupied and the culprit stole a white jacket with a blue strip on the front and jewellery.

Later that day, at 6.40 p.m. residents of a Rocky Lane, Hamilton home called Police when they noticed a quantity of jewellery had been stolen some time between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 a.m. Inquiries into both incidents are underway.
