Truck collides into Somerset house

Fortunately for the 50-year-old driver he was not in the truck when it plunged into the side of the Haven Way home.

Police spokesman P.c. Gary Venning said the white Nissan truck was parked on an incline with its hand brakes on, pumping sewage from a pit at the time of the accident.

"It must have been the extra weight from the sewage which sent the truck forward,'' P.c. Venning said. "The truck went over the wall and collided with a house.'' The truck sustained several dents and had its windshield cracked. It had to be lifted from the house by a crane.

P.c. Venning said the house suffered a broken window plus damage to the surrounding wall.
