A woman was last night in serious condition in intensive care at the KEMH after suffering head injuries when her rental cycle came into collision with a truck on Middle Road in Smith's yesterday evening.

Police were called to the scene around 6.55 p.m. According to a spokesman, the 29-year-old Smith's woman riding the cycle was travelling east when she came into collision with a truck heading in the opposite direction.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance where she was last night said to be in a serious condition in the intensive care unit.

The driver of the truck, a 42-year-old man from Warwick, was not injured. Inquiries are underway.
