Victim turns tables on knife-wielding thug
An office worker fought off a knife wielding thug on Front Street on Wednesday night ? but the robber was able to rub salt in the man?s proverbial wounds by throwing the man?s cycle keys into Hamilton Harbour.
The victim told Police he left his office and went to his cycle, which was parked near the Emporium Building. That was when a man, brandishing a knife, demanded money.
When the 42-year-old victim refused, the suspect snatched the set of keys from the cycle?s ignition and threatened to throw them overboard if he was not given $100.
When the man continued to refuse, the suspect made good his promise as the victim made a beeline to Hamilton Police station.
He was later threatened and smacked in the face with an open hand several times, which caused a minor injury above his right eye.
The suspect is described as a dark skinned male, approximately six feet, two inches tall, of slim build with a thin mustache.
He was wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt and light coloured pants and is believed to be in his early 20s.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to this incident or anyone whit any information to contact Hamilton CID at 295-0011.
