Heritage Day Parade leads to a night of entertainment

The Heritage Day parade has a new route this year. It will begin on Par-la-Ville Road at 1 p.m. and proceed to Church Street, Queen Street, Front Street, Court Street, Reid Street East, Cavendish Road, Montpelier Road, and end at the Frog Lane side of the National Stadium, where a full evening's entertainment featuring popular local stars has been lined up by Jonathan Trott of Spanish Town Productions. The groups and soloists will play something for everyone, and the party will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 10.30 p.m. Participating groups and soloists are: Paradise, featuring Lace; singer Gita Blakeney accompanied by Robert Edwards; reggae band Jahstice (above), Randy Lambert and Tempo, Prestege (Preston and Ed), and gospel artist Jamba.

Mr. Trott promises “a little bit of old school, a little bit of old love songs, and definitely some tipping on the reggae and soca sides” and says the event is “going to be really nice”.

The event is being sponsored by the Department of Cultural Affairs, and admission is free. There will also be food stalls catering to all tastes.
