Baha'i's celebrate 150th anniversary

their celebration of the founding of their faith. After sundown on May 22, 1844 in Shiraz, Persia (now Iran), The Bab,

their celebration of the founding of their faith.

After sundown on May 22, 1844 in Shiraz, Persia (now Iran), The Bab, announced to his companion he was the "appointed one'' and was to prepare his followers for the coming of the Promised one.

The next day he announced his mission to the world and said a greater prophet who would fulfil all the prophecies of all the great religions.

The Bab was persecuted by Muslim clergy which culminated in imprisonment, banishment, and martyrdom in 1850 in Tabriz.

To Baha'i's, the Bab's proclamation heralds the beginning of a new universal cycle and a new age for humankind.

The public is cordially invited to attend tomorrow's holy day observance at the Baha'i National Centre on Cedar Avenue, at 11 a.m.

Baha'i practice is to preserve local customs and traditions and they wish the Bermudian community a happy, joyous, and safe Bermuda Day holiday.
