Restrictions may be lifted on Airport minibuses

Minibuses that ferry passengers to and from Bermuda International Airport may soon be free to work as school buses on the Island.

And Government is seeking to introduce a $2,000 annual permit per vehicle for operators of the Airport minibuses, officially referred to as Airport limousines, as well as removing restrictions on the importation of second-hand vehicles to be used as Airport limousines. At present Airport limousine companies are authorised to carry passengers whose journeys either begin or end at the Airport. The Motor Car Amendment (No.2) Act 2005 has been tabled at the House of Assembly with the primary aim of enabling airport limousine vehicles to be used as school buses.
