Bermuda finish with defeat

Bermuda's Fed Cup team in Ecuador could not end their trip with a win as they lost 3-0 against Guatemala in their final group match.

After being beaten 3-0 in their opening match by Mexico, Bermuda bounced back to beat Panama 2-1 before losing to Peru 3-0. On the clay surface Caitlin Gordon was unable to get the better of Isabella Escobar, losing 6-0, 6-0 in Bermuda's opening match. Kirsten-Andrea Weedon then comfortably beat Jacklyn Lambert 6-0, 6-0 to make the score 2-0, before Jacklyn and captain Tara Lambert lost the final match of the day. Teaming up to play doubles, the sisters were beaten by Jennifer Pusey and Daniela Schippers 6-1, 7-6 to make the final score 3-0 to Guatemala.The round-robin tournament has ten countries in two pools. The top nation in each pool plays off against runner-up in the other pool, with two winning nations promoted to Americas Zone Group I.
