After jetting to the US to oversee the progress of the two new fast ferries, the Transport Minister said he anticipated the first arrival of one of the catamarans as early as next week.

Dr. Ewart Brown witnessed the launching of the Serenity in Massachusetts, while the second ferry, the Resolute, was still in the process of being completed.

He said he expected the Serenity to arrive by mid-March and projected an early April arrival for the sister ferry.

Dr. Brown said the Serenity is expected to be operational in early April.

He added that Marine and Ports pilots were being trained at a US shipyard this week in anticipation for the arrival of the new ferries. And he said the two ferry dock renovations at Rockaway and Hamilton were nearly complete and will coincide with the arrival of the $5 million vessels.
