On what may be his last day on the job, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Khamisi Tokunbo is set to attend an in-chambers hearing at the Supreme Court this morning.

On Tuesday, Mr. Tokunbo filed a writ against his replacement, Sri-Lanka born Kulandra Ratneser.

He is hoping to receive an injunction which will prevent Mr. Ratneser from resuming the post on Monday. The acting DPP designate was appointed by Governor Sir John Vereker on March 3.

The move comes after Government said Mr. Tokunbo must reapply for the $127,000-a-year- job, three-year post which expires today. Mr. Tokunbo refused to submit an application and initiated legal proceeding against Government challenging the constitutionality of the decision to require him to apply for a second three-year post.

While he would not give any particulars, when contacted last night by this paper, Mr. Tokunbo's lawyer Saul Froomkin said a court hearing is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m.
