But Bermuda Aviation Services jumped 50 cents or 20 percent to close at $3 on volume of 4,050 following its recent announcement of good results.

Overall, losers outnumbered gainers by 4-3. The Index closed down 2.91 points to 999.81 on volume of 60,595 shares worth $745,744.75.

In other trading, Bermuda Commercial Bank warrants dropped 62.5 cents to close at 75 cents on volume of 1,308 while the bank's ordinary shares fell 37.5 cents at $4.875 on volume of 3,307.

Bank of Bermuda warrants closed down 87.5 percent to $2.125 on volume of 280 but the bank's oridnary shares were up 25 cents to $18.50 on volume of 19,120 while Bank of Butterfield gained 12.5 cents to close at $10.50 on volume of 20,648.

Other losers were: Bermuda Home, down 25 cents to $9.125 on volume of 604; Argus, down 25 $10.50, 568 shares traded; BF&M preferred down 25 cents to $9, 1,500 shares; and Hemisphere, down 12.5 cents to $7.375, 3,765.

Gainers were: Staples, up 25 cents at $9.25, 1,400 shares; Bermuda Container Line, plus 25 cents to $3.25, 500 shares; and Belco, up 12.5 cents at $20, 1,861.
