Police get a new media man
Roughly six months after Evelyn James Barnett vacated the position of public and media relations manager at the Bermuda Police Service, Police announced that Dwayne Caines will be taking over the reins as their head media man.
There have been rumblings this past week in other media outlets that Police had managed to fill the position, but no official word came until last night.
In a press release, the Commissioner of Police said: "We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Dwayne Caines as manager of public and media relations. Mr. Caines comes to the Police with a considerable amount of experience in media related matters. He is sure to be a welcome addition to the public and media relations team."
Mr. Caines told The Royal Gazette he was looking forward to heading the post, where he hoped to bring better communication between the media, the public and Police.
"I am looking forward to representing the Police and the community to the best of my ability," he said. "I will serve as a facilitator - and we are looking to enhance our relations between the community and Police."
Mr. Caines, who is the brother of Crown council, Wayne Caines, has just under ten years experience in the field.
He has worked at the Bermuda Broadcasting Company, The Royal Oak TV Station in Michigan, the Bermuda Telephone Company and the Bermuda Department of Tourism in New York.
