A visitor stabbed in broad daylight on Front Street has written a letter of thanks to the people of Bermuda.

Scott Jable and his wife Christine said they hoped one day to return to the Island to thank everyone personally, but until then said a letter would have to suffice.

Mr. Jable, from Chicago, was stabbed in the back as he window shopped in Hamilton with his wife and baby while on vacation here at the end of October.

The 38-year-old sales manager said: "Now that our time of Thanksgiving is upon us, my wife, Chris and I, would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful people of Bermuda who helped us to endure during our devastating incident last month. "Thank you all for your concern, prayers and well wishes. They are truly working for us. We hope that someday we have the opportunity to return to Bermuda and thank you all in person. Until then, all of our best."

Mr. and Mrs. Jable said they sent their heartfelt thanks to Anjula Bean and Elizabeth Thomas at the Bee's Knees store on Front Street who took care of their nine-month-old son Cole during the ordeal. Also on their list of thanks was an unknown woman who comforted and prayed with Mr. Jable, holding his hand until the ambulance arrived.

"We especially thank Thomas Trott, who was brave and caring enough to track down my alleged attacker and assist the Police in his capture."

Other people mentioned in the thank you letter were Premier Jennifer Smith, Mayor of Hamilton Lawson Mapp, the doctors and nurses at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Shadow Home Affairs Minister Patricia Gordon-Pamplin, the Tourism Department's David Dumont , and staff at Dolphin Quest, where Mr. and Mrs. Jable had visited during their short stay.
