Standing for the right to serve the people of Pembroke West in Parliament is the culmination of a lifelong dream for Shawn.

“I have always known I was going to be involved in politics,” he said. “I've always had a passion for it.”

“Politics for me is about improving the lives of people. My commitment to the people of Pembroke West is total. I will never take them for granted, and will serve at their pleasure. I am offering my commitment, my energy, my education and my life's lessons to give them the best possible representation.”

When Shawn stepped forward in January to become the Chairman of the United Bermuda Party, it was perfectly in keeping with his approach to life.

“My philosophy in life is be significant, whether it is within my family, my school, my church or the community,” he said. “In my opinion, the best way to be significant is to get involved. I simply could not just stand on the side lines and be a spectator.”

Shawn attended the Bermuda Institute Seventh Day Adventist School from kindergarten through Grade 12, and consistently made the Principal's List. He graduated cum laude from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama with a major in history and a minor in political science.

He graduated in law from the University of London with 2nd Class honours, and from DeMontford University in Leicester with a legal practice certificate. He is a qualified solicitor and works as a legal consultant.

Shawn has always been a community activist. He is a mentor with Youth Net, a volunteer with CADA and with PRIDE.

Shawn is married with three children.
