Signing session as environment shows are available on DVD

Sangita Iyer: Back for signing of EnviroShorts DVD

The award-winning environmental documentary series EnviroShorts gets its official launch on DVD this Saturday.

And former TV news reporter Sangita Iyer, who created the 13-part series which aired on Channel 7 and Channel 9 last year, will be signing copies of the DVD for members of the public.

The Bermuda Audubon Society is hosting the special event at the Bermuda Aquarium and Zoo gift shop between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

All the shows have been included in the boxed set of three DVDs.

The series covers Bermuda topics including open spaces, invasive plants and animals, turtles, caves, mangroves, sewage and water, native and endemic plants, pollution, global warming and a number of other related areas.

Copies of the DVDs have already been distributed to schools. The launch and signing session is an opportunity for members of the public to own their own copy of the series, which was commended by Senators and won the inaugural DeForest Trimingham Award from the Bermuda National Trust.

Andrew Dobson, president of the Bermuda Audubon Society said: "There has been a huge interest from the public in the TV series with requests to get hold of the DVD. Our aim was to give copies of the DVD to all the schools on the Island. This has now been done and we made sure that we also produced enough copies to sell to interested members of the public. These are now available and I hope people will come to the Aquarium on Saturday to buy a copy.

"The Audubon Society is aiming to get the environmental message to as many segments of Bermuda's population as possible. The response from schools has been terrific, with many classes already using episodes from the series in their lessons."

The DVDs are on sale for $30 at many outlets on the Island.
