United Parcel Service, it was revealed yesterday.

A spokeswoman for UPS said yesterday that that IBC had been appointed the firm's authorised agent in Bermuda, effective from February 2.

But the future job prospects for UPS's Hamilton staff -- which numbers around 10 -- were last night unclear.

No-one from UPS -- the US's biggest courier company -- or IBC could be contacted for comment.

Earlier, a statement from UPS's Miami-based parent company said the agreement assured access to "the greatest breadth'' of local and international service for UPS customers.

She added: "The agreement also provides access to Bermuda for UPS customers worldwide.''
