An art show in an insurance office
Select Palette Art organiser Sue Pearson has arranged an exhibition of works in an unlikely place.
The offices of Bermuda-based insurer Canopius are to host 'Warm Island Breezes', an invitational display by three artists.
"Rhona Emmerson is featuring her pleine air oil paintings, Emma Ingham-Dounouk has her St. George's watercolours, while Frank Dublin's 'Island Motif' is featured in both pastels and oils," said Mrs. Pearson.
Canopius is located on Par-la-Ville Road. The show opens tonight, from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., and runs until May 13. Viewing is by appointment only. Telephone 505-4290 or send an e-mail, spart@logic.com.
Mrs. Pearson added: "The gorgeous new office has a 'Tommy Bahama' ambiance. The open office space on the second floor lends itself as an attractive alternative art gallery."
A new show opens at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard Sunday. Titled 'Journeys', it features a variety of members' artwork.
"The title was chosen from a selection of exhibition themes given to the Arts Centre's membership, who then voted on their top two," said curator Kym Bailey. "This is the first one to be featured this year with the other choice being shown later in the year."
Mrs. Bailey said there would be mixed media on display at the show.
"This will include watercolours, oils and acrylic paintings from established artists such as Molly Godet, Kok Wan Lee, Christopher Grimes, Sonia Von Walter, and many more," she said.
The exhibit opening takes place between 5.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. The show runs until April 17. Daily opening time is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
