A retrial has been ordered for two men accused of dragging a British tourist face first along the road as they tried to grab her handbag while they rode a moped.

Kenneth Kevin Boyles, 24, from Cambridge Road, Sandys and Dean Leslie Eve, 32, of Cedar Park Road, Devonshire, denied robbery in the trial which started last Wednesday.

Janet Stannard, 55, of Hampshire, England told the jury she had lost a tooth, loosened three others and suffered other facial wounds during the attack on Pitt's Bay Road in April 17 last year.

But the trial was halted for legal arguments this week and Assistant Justice Archibald Warner ordered a re-trial.

Prosecutor Vinette Graham-Allen said the case will go to the October arraignment session with a trial likely later that month.
