Govt. pay foul-up resolved
Government employees banking at the Bank of Butterfield who did not receive pay yesterday after a Government foul-up can access their pay today, the bank announced last night.
?Government employees expecting payroll amounts not credited to their accounts at the bank with value for October 29 will be able to access these funds on Saturday, October 30,? a press statement from the bank said last night.
?Bermuda Government has acknowledged that they submitted their payroll information to the bank with a value date of Sunday, October 31, 2004. The payroll file should have had a value date of October 29, 2004, which Butterfield Bank?s systems would have process October 28.?
Butterfield Bank president and CEO Alan Thompson said the situation was not created by the bank and added: ?We will do everything we can to assist our customers?.
On Friday, Butterfield Bank received from Government a list of the names of their employees who have direct deposit payroll at the bank.
The payroll will be processed to allow access through the ATM, Butterfield Direct or at the Reid Street Branch from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 30.
