The man charged with the attempted murder of American tourist Scott Jable in October of last year pleaded not guilty to the charge during a Supreme Court arraignments session yesterday.

Lorenzo Prince Robinson, 24, was charged in Supreme Court with attempted murder, stealing a pocket knife from the Knick Knack store, and stealing a gold ring from Dominic Wong, all on October 28 of last year. Although he had originally pleaded guilty to the charges of stealing and robbery, he pleaded not guilty to all three charges in the Supreme Court yesterday.

Robinson is accused of stabbing American tourist Scott Jable in the back as he was shopping with his wife and infant son Cole on Front Street as the family were vacationing in Bermuda.

At first Mr. Jable and his family were not sure if he would survive the attack. For a while his rehabilitation and recovery appeared to go well, but then Mr. Jable underwent an MRI where it was discovered that the six-inch knife had chipped one of the vertebrae in his spine and caused a severe infection.

Mr. Jable was able to temporarily avoid life-threatening surgery on his back when doctors prescribed a long regimen of antibiotics which he delivers himself every eight hours via a tube.

Represented by lawyer Elizabeth Christopher, Robinson will appear in court again for mention on May 1. He was remanded in custody until then.
