A Russian merchant sailor was due to be taken ashore last night after cutting his hand.

The 40 year old hurt himself while aboard the Panamanian-registered vessel the Ref Vega which is taking frozen chicken from Mississippi to St. Petersburg, Russia. Doctors were preparing to rendezvous with the vessel off St. George's.
