A Works and Engineering Department spokesman said that due to cracking on the surface of Cavendish Road -- between the top of Spurling Hill east to the junction of Middle Road and the top of Lane Hill -- resurfacing would have to be done, starting on Monday and lasting through the week.

Work will start after 9 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. to minimise disruption.

Between these times only one lane will be operational.

The spokesman said: "Those who travel to and from Hamilton on that route are urged to use alternative roads for the week. Engineers are also asking those who park on the section being resurfaced to find other spaces for the week.

"The public is asked to bear with us during this period. The work being done will not only restore the structural integrity of that stretch of road, it will make it smoother to drive on.'' GOVERNMENT GVT
