The man, who refused medical treatment for his injuries, was attacked close to the Maximart supermarket on Middle Road, Somerset at 7.20 p.m. by an unknown male.

Police were in the area conducting inquiries last night but the man had not been apprehended by press time.

POLICE REVEAL IDENTITY OF DEAD MAN OBT Police reveal identity of dead man The identity of a man who was found dead in a Southampton church car park has been revealed by Police.

Douglas Ellis, 37, years old was found at the St. Anne's Hall parking lot on Tuesday morning.

Police confirmed that an autopsy on the man was performed and they believed no foul play was involved.

FUNDRAISERS PROVES A REAL SIX-CESS FNR CLB Fundraiser proves a real six-cess The Bermuda Society for the Blind will soon be $3,200 richer as a result of the annual `Cup Match Sixes' charity pledge.

Cable and Wireless, which started the pledge system four years ago, donates $200 to Bermuda's blind for every six hit during the annual Cup Match Classic.

In the past four years, 85 sixes have been hit, and a total of $17,000 has been donated by the international telecommunications company. This year sixteen sixes were hit during the two day event.

Cable & Wireless spokesman, Edgar Dill said the idea was a novel way of making charitable donations and, that they were glad to give the funds in the names of the players who'd scored the runs.

ISLAND UNAFFECTED BY CAR RECALL BUC Island unaffected by car recall The recall of 88,000 vehicles by Japan's Mitsubishi Motors Corporation does not appear to have affected cars sold in Bermuda, according to Holmes, Williams & Purvey, the local dealership.

A spokesman for the company said it had not heard from Mitsubishi that any Bermuda cars would be subject to the recall, which was announced on Tuesday and included 50,000 vehicles exported to the United States.

The company identified eight defects in various truck and car models, including the Montero sport-utility vehicle, the Mirage and the Galant sedan.

THIEVES STEAL COCONUT TREES CRM Thieves steal coconut trees Police are investigating the theft of three eight-foot-tall coconut trees from the West End Development Corporation plant nursery in Sandys Parish on Tuesday.

Sources said the trees were removed from the Malabar Road property some time between last week and Monday.
