Another game, another goal.

Shaun Goater continued his unparalleled run of form last night during Manchester City's 3-0 win over Walsall.

The Bermudian hitman now has 12 goals in 10 games and his only rival in England's scoring charts is Liverpool's Michael Owen, who has had the added bonus of playing in Europe to rack up his strikes.

New signing Ali Bernabia opened the scoring at Maine Road when he found the net after 24 minutes.

Five minutes short of the break Goater scored City's second, created by Benarbia. The Algerian midfielder played a one-two with Paulo Wanchope but the Costa Rican failed to control the final pass. It rebounded into the area and Goater nipped in behind two central defenders to crash the ball home. Wanchope added a third from the penalty spot.

With 19 minutes left City boss Kevin Keegan gave Goater a rest, replacing him with Darren Huckerby.

Meanwhile, Kyle Lightbourne's Macclesfield Town drew 1-1 at home to Darlington in Division Three last night.

Lee Glover got the home side's goal, but Lightbourne was unlucky not to find himself on the scoresheet in the second-half. Following a foul 25 yards out, the Bermudian hit a great free kick around the wall with his left foot only to see Andy Collett in the Darlington goal go full length to push the ball around the post.
