Grand day at Co-Op for fathers, children

The Co-Op Supermarket on Union Square will celebrate its 30th anniversary and its rebirth on Thursday with a "Fathers and Children'' day.

The store, which is being made over under new management, will feature an all-day array of games including putt-putt golf, basketball hoops, hoop-la, a water pistol shoot and a variety of other activities.

"We're inviting all the children of Bermuda, boys and girls, to come along and enjoy themselves,'' said Co-Op general manager Harrison Isaac. "All we ask of them is that they bring their father, and if he's not available, any other male adult, such as a neighbour, a pastor, an uncle or grandfather, or even a Sunday School teacher.'' Admittance to the party will be free to all children accompanied by an adult male. "This is the new Co-Op supermarket showing its commitment to the people of Bermuda,'' explained Mr. Isaac. "The Co-Op has always played a special part in the community. We wanted to extend that by offering the kids a fun day.'' The revamped store will be offering a range of new and exclusive products, together with an extended basket of services.
