Bike racer Simons in sizzling form

Jevaughn Simons: Victory in Alabama.

Superbike C Class novice Jevaughn Simons received a ringing endorsement from team owner Aaron Brown following yet another sterling performance competing in his rookie season in the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series in Alabama last weekend.

The 24-year-old motorcycle racer took the coveted chequered flag at the Talladega Grand Prix Raceway in the 600cc Superstock Novice Class and placed second in the 600cc Superbike Novice Class to cap off another memorable weekend of racing.

Simons' latest achievements on the race track have earned him rave reviews from team boss Brown who formerly worked with late Nascar legend Dale Earnhardt.

"We are real happy with Jevaughn's progress and he's done a great job up to this point. We really believe he has a legitimate shot at moving his career forward in the States and our main goal is to try and help him do that," Brown told The Royal Gazette. "We are really happy with what he has done for our team so far and look forward to seeing him doing well in the future."

Simons currently tops the 600cc Superstock Novice (40) and 600cc Superbike Novice (37) points standings after two rounds and has already set his sights on clinching the Michelin/WERA National Challenge Series later this summer.

He also recognises his task is not an easy one.

"There is a bit of pressure being at the top with everyone chasing after you," he said. "But I have the skill."

Simons also appears to be forming a solid bond with team owner Brown.

"Aaron is a great guy who I can learn a lot from. He helps me out a great deal and working with him is really good," he added.

Simons described last week's experience in Alabama as very "rewarding".

"I would say I done fairly good," he said. "I was able to get some really good knowledge on the track."
