St. George's Select team for the opening tour match against the Hyderabad Blues on Sunday.

Club secretary Dennis Spencer confirmed yesterday that players who had not paid their dues were not considered for selection.

As a result half the team from last year's Cup Match will be missing, including Arnold Manders, David Adams and colt Lionel Cann because they are not financial members.

The same also applies to the likes of Glenn Smith and Lewis Foggo whose absence combined with that of overseas-based players Noel Gibbons, Clay Smith and Dean Minors, created a number of vacancies in the team.

Given the opportunity to stake early claims for Cup Match places are Western Stars pair Gregory Sampson and Cleon Scotland, who was reserve in last year's Cup Match team, and Bailey's Bay bowler Clarkie Trott who is seeking a recall.

Teenager Jason Anderson is also in the starting team and will handle the wicket-keeping duties in the biggest match of his young career.

Sampson will probably open the batting with Dexter Smith, who returned to form with a century against Somerset on Sunday, while Trott is expected to share the new ball with Kenny Phillip. In the absence of Adams, who also did not play on Sunday for the league champions, and Manders, Eugene Foggo will be the team's main spin bowler.

Team: Graham Fox, Ricky Hodsoll, Dexter Smith, Gregory Sampson, Charlie Marshall, Cleon Scotland, Clevie Wade, Kenny Phillip, Clarkie Trott, Eugene Foggo, Jason Anderson. Res: Robert Fox, Herbie Bascome, Sinclair Gibbons.

Hyderabad Blues, who were last in Bermuda in 1991, will play five matches. On Monday they take on the Somerset Cup Match Select before meeting the Youth Select next Thursday at Devonshire Rec. Their final two matches are on the weekend of June 25 and 26 when they meet a President's XI at Lord's on the Saturday and the Bermuda team the following day at White Hill Field. The Indians will be arriving with 22 players and officials, 20 of whom will fly in on Saturday. Two others will arrive the following day.

All matches are 50 overs per side starting at noon.
