RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd., a Bermuda reinsurer, last night said it had reduced its previously reported third-quarter loss after adjusting for a benefit related to the value of claims incurred.
The company reduced its loss for the September-ending quarter to $287.3 million, or $4.07 per share, reflecting a gain of $34.8 million, or 49 cents per share. The previously-reported loss was $322.1 million.
RenRe?s losses in the third quarter stem from heavy Atlantic storm activity. Other insurers and reinsurers have also been hit, with the Bermuda market overall recording third-quarter losses in the region of $8 billion.
