Nine players charged by BCB
Nine local cricketers have been summoned to appear before Bermuda Cricket Board Disciplinary Committee hearings following a spate of on-field incidents.
A statement issued by the BCB yesterday evening said the "Board strongly deplored the acts of violence and player indiscipline that occurred at a number of games on Sunday, July 12. "The BCUA have forwarded detailed reports of these incidents and based on the contents, a number of players have been summoned to hearings of the BCB's Disciplinary Committee scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week."
Western Stars' Treadwell Gibbons Jr. is facing six charges including "three counts of physical assault of another player, umpire, referee, official or spectator".
Social Club's Detroy Smith is facing eight charges, including "one count of an act of violence on the field of play, and one count of physical assault of an umpire.".
Ricardo Brangman Sr. is charged with "one count of physical assault of another player, umpire, referee or spectator and one count of a threat of assault on another player, official or spectator", while Western Stars Khiry Furbert is charged with "two counts of threat of assault of another player and one count of showing dissent at an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse."
All four have been asked to appear before the Disciplinary Committee on Monday.
Meanwhile, Justin Robinson of Western Stars, Calvin Dill of Bailey's Bay, Chris Fleming (Leg Trappers), Mackie Crane (Devonshire Rec.) and Kevin Hurdle (YMSC) all face lesser charges when they appear bef ore the committee on Tuesday.
