Sheldon Franks, 31, a well-known first division mid-fielder for the North Village Red Devils football club, appeared in Magistrates' Court for a bail application hearing.
But Frank's lawyer Mark Pettingill withdrew the application, explaining that he had not yet received information he required from the Attorney General's Chambers.
Franks has been in prison since August 9 when he was charged -- along with 25-year-old Tico Furbert -- with murder and possession of a firearm with intent. Furbert faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm.
Caines, a 28-year-old father of two, was shot three times in the head at point-blank range through the glass door of a house on Curving Avenue, Pembroke, on the night of July 6.
