A single vehicle accident on Thursday evening caused a van to overturn and the driver sustained minor abrasions.

Around 7.45 p.m. Police attended the scene on Knapton Hill, in Smith's, near the junction with Idle Acres Road.

It appeared that a van was travelling west on Knapton Hill when the driver, a 52-year-old Southampton man, lost control.

As a result, the van struck a wall and overturned.

The Southampton man sustained minor abrasions.

The van received scratches and dents to its front end and right side as well as a collapsed roof. Inquiries are underway.
