Tropical fish society gathers at hotel

The Bermuda Fry-Angle Aquarium Society is celebrating its 20th anniversary this Saturday, and to celebrate they are holding an event open to non-members at the Fairmont Southampton Princess.

The Society, made up of tropical fish lovers, regularly holds auctions for rare fish and brings in international speakers on the subject of raising, breeding, and caring for tropical fish.

While non-members will not be able to bid at the auction, they will be able to listen to speeches by speakers from throughout North America, including a 11.30 a.m. speech on getting into the hobby, which is geared towards beginners and children.

Later speeches include a 5 p.m. talk entitled "Tales of Fishkeeping", and a 10 p.m. presentation called "Confessions of a Cichaholic" about experiences raising the cichlid group of fishes.

The club is hoping to use the event not only bring together Bermuda's tropical fish enthusiasts, but also to introduce others to the hobby.

The auction will be held at 2 p.m., with a preview at 1 p.m.
