Nusum quick off the mark
Striker John Barry Nusum scored twice as Wolves, one of the Second Division promotion favourites, opened their season with this convincing victory over Paget at White Hill yesterday.
Nusum broke the deadlock in the first minute before Shannon Berkeley made it 2-0 in the 18th minute.
It stayed that way until the 75th minute when Ricky Nesbitt scored a third to put the match out of Paget's reach. Further goals in the 77th and 87th minutes by Nathan Webb and Nusum completed a good day for Wolves.
St. George's 0 Police 3 A second-half blitz that produced all three goals gave visiting Police a comfortable victory at Wellington Oval.
Though it was a creditable performance by a St. George's team that had been in training for just two weeks, the East Enders began to wilt after a scoreless first half. It was former St. George's forward Jerry Laws who spearheaded the Prospect attack, scoring after 46 and 89 minutes with Lawrence Smith getting the other after 80 minutes.
Particularly outstanding was St. George's goalkeeper John Durrant, while Police goalkeeper Terry Richardson also pulled off some fine saves.
Social Club 1 St. David's 2 Relegated St. David's got off to a winning start with this narrow victory over Social Club at PHC Stadium. No match details were available last night.
Two games are scheduled for tonight at Somerset with PHC taking on Devonshire Cougars in a First Division match that was switched from PHC Stadium on Saturday night. The 7.00 opener sees Hamilton Parish playing Somerset Eagles.
