will take place on Saturday at the BASA pool, starting at 1 p.m.

Events will be held in five age groups with three events in each group. All races will be timed finals with medals for first place and ribbons for second to sixth.

In the eight and under girls, Brianna Holmes looks set to win at least two more events as she has the fastest entry times in both the butterfly and breaststroke and is also a strong contender in the freestyle. Melanie Munro of Sharks competes in her strongest events this weekend and is expected to challenge in the freestyle and fly races.

Roy-Allan Burch of Sharks has the fastest entry in all three of the boys eight and under events and is unlikely to be seriously challenged.

A number of promising young swimmers will be seen in both the boys and girls eight and under age group, where the heats will be full.

Much is expected in the future of the likes of the Jones twins -- Meghan and Sophie -- Clemmie Stubbs, Melanie Fullerton, Anna Forbes and, among the boys, Richard Collis, Adam Petty, Stephen Kenny, Matthew Herring, Brian Hall and Evan Faulkenberry.

In the girls nine and 10 age group, many of the swimmers will be attempting the 200 metre races for the first time, particularly in the breaststroke. Emma Rego is seeded first in both the 100 metre butterfly, and the 200 metre freestyle and Erica Frith in the 200 metre breaststroke.

Darryl Steynor of Sharks is the top seed in the nine and 10 boys category in both the butterfly and freestyle events, although he is not a definite entrant this weekend. Likely winners include Paul Murphy of Triangles and Scott Simmons of Harbour, both of whom are good breaststrokers. Richard Jones of Triangles and Alexander Collis of Harbour are also expected to swim well.

Jessica Sousa in the girls 11-12 is expected to repeat her success of last weekend in both the butterfly and freestyle. However, she is seeded only seventh in the breaststroke where team-mate Kim Frith has the fastest time.

A large number of entries have been registered in the 11-12 and among others who should post good times are Michelle Outerbridge and Allison Petty of Triangles and Lyndsay Taylor, Candace Marson, twins Jessica and Anne Marwick and Jennifer Roberts, all of Sharks.

Although Paul Fox of Harbour stands ahead of Nuri Latham of Sharks in the boys 11-12 age group, he is only entered in two events, leaving the door open for Latham to overtake him in the points standings.

Fox has the top seed time in the freestyle while Latham is entered in all three events, having the fastest entry in both the breaststroke and butterfly events.

Elisha Miller will be chasing records again in the girls 13-14 age group and looks set to have a go at both marks in the 800 metre freestyle and the 200 metre butterfly. Miller could go below 10:20.00 in the 800 metres and 2:47.00 in the 200 butterfly.

Zoe Roberts is the top seed in the 200 metre breaststroke but will be seriously challenged by Abigail Madeiros who swam well in last week's competition and Jenny Munro, also a strong breaststroker.

In the 13-14 boys category, Ronald Cowen looks set to rack up the most points in the absence of Stephen Troake and Trevor Nelson, who are not competing this weekend.

Cowen is expected to be well ahead in the field in the taxing 1,500 metres and could also challenge top seed Jonathan Ward of Triangles in the 200 metre breaststroke. Michael Pantry of Harbour has the fastest entry time in the 200 metres fly and is also entered in the 1,500 metres.

In the girls open event Alicia Mullan has the fastest entry times in both categories she is entered in. She is particularly strong in the 800 metre freestyle.

In the boys events, Craig Ferguson, Stephen Fahy and Trevor Ferguson have the top seeded times respectively in the 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 1,500 metre freestyle.
