The Red Cross, which is ending the appeal at the end of this month, hopes to raise the remaining $5,000 to reach its mark through last minute donations.

Government has pledged to match the final amount dollar for dollar. The money will go to the British Red Cross which provides food, medical supplies and personnel in the worst affected areas of Rwanda, still recovering from the ravages of civil war and disease.

Accounts at the Bank of Bermuda (a/c 1001-444 517), the Bank of Butterfield (a/c 2001 663 859) and Bermuda Commercial Bank (a/c 0180 100 688) remain open until the end of October. Donations may also be sent directly to: The Rwanda Appeal, Bermuda Red Cross, PO Box HM 772, Hamilton HM CX.

AID FOR RWANDA -- Government has donated $25,000 to provide relief for Rwanda, matching the amount raised by the Bermuda Industrial Union.
