Bermuda College awarded `examination centre' status
"Approved Examination Centre'' status to the Faculty of Applied Science & Technology at Bermuda College.
Bermuda College will now join more than 85 other countries who participate in the City & Guilds programme.
The status of "Approved Examination Centre'' allows the college to serve as an examination centre for any student wishing to sit City & Guilds examinations.
The City & Guilds programmes cover many areas including carpentry, motor vehicle repair, decorating, plumbing and electrical installation.
And programmes such as Food & Beverage, International Tourism and Reception Operations and Services are particularly relevant to Bermuda as they will help prepare students for positions in the local hospitality industry.
"The accreditation of our Faculty of Applied Science & Technology by the City & Guilds programme is an important step in making the acquisition of relevant qualifications accessible to the Bermudian population,'' Dr. Charles Finn, Dean of Applied Science and Technology stated in a Press release yesterday.
"The international programme of the City & Guilds is recognised worldwide and being able to sit examinations in Bermuda will enable Bermudians to earn qualifications which will stand them in good stead for their working lives.'' Students wishing to sit City & Guilds examinations at the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology will need to visit the College Technology Centre and complete the necessary documentation during the relevant registration period.
