House passes Cambridge Beaches relief bill

The Cambridge Beaches cottage colony will benefit from tax relief to the tune of $656,885 when it embarks on renovations.

According to information shared with the House of Assembly by Tourism Minister Ewart Brown, this will include the construction of dining decks and decks around the swimming pool, a food and beverage complex in the pool area, and the construction of three suites with a private pool.

In addition, all the existing cottages will be refurbished.

The award-winning hotel will benefit from a draft order entitled the Hotels Concession (Cambridge Beaches) Order Act 2008, which was given the green light by MPs yesterday.

The House of Assembly previously passed a concessions order for development at the same resort valued at $8.4 million.

The latest one provides for concessions in the amount of $656,885 calculated on the projected value of the development of $5.1 million.
