Teenager found with stolen school computer items

A teenager has admitted participating in a West End burglary spree - and was remanded into custody to await his sentence.

Rasheed Muhammad, 17, pleaded guilty to stealing computer equipment from a home in Sound View Road, Sandy's, on April 14.

He also admitted receiving a stolen computer monitor and set of speakers between March 10 and April 18 belonging to Sandys Secondary Middle School.

Crown counsel Larissa Burgess told Magistrates' Court the electronic goods were worth thousands of dollars.

Police searched an address in Sandy's on April 19 and arrested four other teenaged boys. They appeared at Magistrates' Court on Tuesday when they admitted to nine burglaries affecting homes and businesses in the West End during March and April, including the school burglary.

That raid resulted in Police suspecting that Muhammad was in possession of some of the stolen property, explained Ms Burgess. They searched his home in Broome Street, Sandys, and recovered the computer equipment belonging to Sandy's Secondary.

During an interview, he admitted to receiving the stolen goods and also to burgling the home in Sound View Road.

Acting Magistrate Edward Bailey ordered a background report to be prepared on the teenager, who has no previous convictions. He will be sentenced along with the four other teenagers on June 5 and was remanded into custody until then.
