its undertaking yesterday to freeze all further action on the property.

At a Supreme Court hearing yesterday the Solicitor General agreed Government would make no move on the makeshift home of squatter Mr. William Bascome until it obtains a court order.

In return, Mr. Bascome's lawyer Mr. Julian Hall agreed to lift an injunction against the Minister of the Environment taken out last March just minutes before Government bulldozers were due to raze Mr. Bascome's makeshift home.

Government wants to move Mr. Bascome off the land to make way for a proposed eight acre park at the Mill Creek site.

But Mr. Bascome, who claims he has occupied the land for over 25 years and that his father squatted there before him, has claimed title to the land.

Yesterday, Mr. Hall said he was pleased with the outcome of yesterday's hearing.

"The next move is up to Government,'' he said.

Solicitor General Mr. Barrie Meade confirmed Government would be making an application soon to claim its title to the land.

"We will be moving expeditiously on this matter,'' Mr. Meade said yesterday.
