A liquor store in St. George's has been robbed by a machete-wielding thug for the second time in two weeks.

The robber walked into St. George's Liquor Store on Duke Street shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday and stole between $500 and $600 in cash and a $300 cheque.

Three other men were in the store at the time as the owner and his three assistants were closing for the night, but no one suffered any injuries.

The robber is described as five foot eight inches tall, slender, and wearing a grey hooded sweat top with writing across the front and blue jeans.

The store was robbed exactly two weeks earlier at the same time as staff were carrying out stock-taking.

On that occasion, a 59-year-old Hamilton Parish man fled for his life when the attacker brandished a machete.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said it was "too early to say" if the same man was responsible for both robberies, "but the modus operandi was similar".
