competitive start to the season with former champions Tools and Equipment gaining revenge against defending champions Marlboro by crushing them 21-9.

The opening game saw Marlboro post an 8-1 lead, which was bettered by Tools and Equipment's 9-0 second game win with their high team game of 1,001. The tie-breaker was taken by T&E with a slim win but enough to gain the majority of the points with their high team series of 2,806.

Antoine Jones had the high series with his 606 while team-mate Dean Lightbourn assisted with the second high series and third high game of 221. Marlboro were led by Doug Hines while they posted the night's second high series of 2,789.

Tomp's Towing Service rolled to an unchallenged 28-2 win over a short-handed Spoilers. Victor Thompson's high game of 232 led the winners. Leroy Ming helped the winners with his third high series.

Franklin Travel started the season flying with their 18-12 victory over Stevedoring Services. Their third high team game of 950 and series of 2,672 was a team effort. Miles Smith countered with his second high game of 222 for the losers.

The last match saw Gosling's cruising to an easy 24-6 win over New Mix Ups.

Play in the Mixed Majors bowling league this week saw Steve Wales roll a men's high series of 594 and high game of 221 to lead Strikers to a 3-1 victory over E&C Well Drilling.

For the losers, Joan Burgess had the women's third high series of 518. Wayne Kelly had a men's second high series of 583 and third high game of 216 as D&D Rollers beat Dynamic Four 4-0. Barry DeCouto had the men's second high game of 208 for Rollers while Charlene Burgess had a women's high game of 215 for the losers.

Troublemakers beat B's and G's 3-1 behind Helena Rawlins' women's high series of 520 and second high game of 189.

Untouchables beat Last Minutes 4-0 with Kevin Burt having a third high men's series of 581 while Charletta Samuels had a second high women's series of 519.

Gina Bean led Dolphins to a 3-1 win over Mix-Ups with a women's third high game of 189.

Sparks blasted Social Club 17-10 in Mott's Sportsmen's league play this week with Mike Lambe leading the way with his men's high series of 655 and high game of 236.

Ty Williams and Howard Francis did well for the losers with Williams rolling a men's third high series of 593.

Miles Smith had a men's second high series of 603 and third high game of 221 to lead Buy and Sell to a 21-6 triumph over Warwick Whites.

Mini Forwarders beat Pembroke Juniors 191 -71 behind Steve Wales who had a series of 584 and Dudley Browne's second high game of 223.

The other result saw Young Blood beat Warwick Reds 17-10.

In the first night of action in the Ladies Classic Bowling League, defending champions Lucky Strikes got off to a winning start by defeating Blue Thunder 16-4.

High team game and series honours went to Lucky Strikes as well as they rolled a 748 and 2,147.

Blue Thunder and Strike Zone shared the spoils for the second high team game when they each rolled a 746. However, the Zone beat out the Thunder for the second high team series with a roll of 2,044 with Thunder settling for third with a 1,985. Strike Zone got by BG's 13-7 and Classy Ladies romped over a short-handed Pacesetters team 181 -11 .

Individual honours went to Strike Zone's Kathy Christopher with a 624 series.

This included a 225 game, which tied for the second high game with Charletta Samuels of Blue Thunder. Second and third series went to Lucky Strikes' Marj Correia and Bobby Ingham with a 573 and 567 respectively.

High game of the night was a 246, rolled by Traci Francis of Strike Zone.
