The Royal Gazette came in for a severe tongue lashing from the Opposition United Bermuda Party (UBP) during a House of Assembly motion to adjour.

Shadow Home Affairs Minister Patricia Gordon Pamplin sought to set the record straight over comments that were misreported by this newspaper.

Mrs. Gordon Pamplin said that her comments about a developmentally challenged child were misrepresented when the paper reported she said that the girl had a mind of five or six year old.

She said she would have readily apologised to the family had she actually said that but when she contacted this paper her efforts to have the story corrected some weeks ago came to naught even after securing and transcribing a recording of her speech to prove the report was incorrect.

"There's a difference between being developmentally challenged and having the mind of a five or six year old," Mrs. Gordon Pamplin said.
