Soccer ace Shaun is toast of City

England's top division after he helped his club Manchester City secure promotion from the First Division yesterday.

City came from behind to win 4-1 at Blackburn Rovers and Goater made himself a hero by scoring the equaliser -- his 29th goal of the season -- which changed the course of the match.

City rode their luck as Blackburn led at half-time and hit the woodwork four times, but the three points were enough to guarantee the Maine Road club a place in England's elite.

Next season Goater will follow in the footsteps of countrymen Arthur Woollard, Clyde Best and Kyle Lightbourne when he competes in one of the world's top leagues.

It is the realisation of a dream for the 30-year-old, who started out with North Village, before he battled his way up through England's lower divisions with Rotherham and Bristol City and was then signed two years ago by Manchester City for 400,000.
