The field of the Winter Wonders Championship at the McMullen Tennis Complex included some of the top young players in the Clearwater area.

Playing in the 16-and-under category, DeSilva came from behind to defeat Desiree Collins 4-6, 6-0, 6-4 before seeing off Julia Vaughn 6-1, 6-2.

DeSilva lost heavily in the final, going down 6-1, 6-0 to Teodora Miric, but she was suffering from the onset of flu which confined her to bed for the next four days.

DeSilva is Bermuda's top-ranked female player, having won three major domestic titles last year.
