18-year-old compulsive prowler.
Jermaine Hayward, of Warwick, admitted visiting a woman's home at least 25 times in just over a month because he found her attractive.
Hayward, of Smith's Avenue, told officers a four-year problem made him unable to stop such behaviour. He pleaded guilty to three charges of prowling when he appeared before Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis.
Insp. Peter Duffy, prosecuting, said Hayward lives only two minutes from the 29-year-old woman.
He said she first telephoned officers on May 27 at 12.30 a.m. after she heard suspicious noises outside her Tribe Road No. 5 residence.
Officers searched her premises but failed to find anyone. She said she had heard the noises on a regular basis for the past month, but had not reported them to Police.
The woman left the Island for a short trip and a friend of hers was house sitting.
At 2.15 a.m. on May 28, the friend heard a noise to the front sliding door and heard someone jump off the balcony.
She went back to bed and 15 minutes later heard someone at the kitchen door.
She called Police who searched the area but again failed to find anyone.
On May 31, at 10.30 p.m., a neighbour spotted Hayward peering into the woman's living room window. He confronted Hayward and took him upstairs to the landlord who gave him a warning and released him.
The matter was reported to Police on June 3 when the woman became aware of the incident.
Officers attended the man's residence and he was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where he admitted visiting the woman's home 25 times.
He said he first saw her outside her apartment on Good Friday, found her attractive and began prowling, visiting her home between three and four times each week.
Mr. Francis released Hayward on $500 bail and a like surety. he ordered him to reappear in court for sentencing on June 26 at 2.15 p.m.
