investigate why he beat up a 17-year-old.

Perry M. Puckerin, of Marsh Valley Road, Pembroke, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to the charge of grievous bodily harm.

Police prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said a 17-year-old encountered Puckerin and another man while looking for his bike on September 5.

The younger man sensed he was going to be attacked and ran away.

According to Insp. Duffy, Puckerin and the other man threw rocks at Puckerin, caught up to him and beat him up.

He was left on the ground bleeding and had to be taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

He suffered cut lips, bruising to his gums and scrapes to his arm.

Duty counsel Miss Kim Wilson told the court that the other man was the main offender and that the teenager approached them and accused them of stealing his bike.

Miss Wilson said the teenager was yielding a bat and that Puckerin's friend was struck by that bat.

"He helped his friend and left the scene, leaving the two of them fighting.'' she said.

Miss Wilson also added that there were other people involved and at the scene of the incident.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said: "This is just a piece of the whole thing. I want to get the whole picture.'' He ordered a social inquiry report, but remanded Puckerin in custody until November 21 when the report should be completed.
