Premier Alex Scott returned to the Island yesterday after a "successful" trip to Britain to attend the British Labour Party's annual conference.

Mr. Scott said last night that his meeting with new Overseas Territories Minister Bill Rammell had been "productive" and that all residual questions pertaining to his trip will be answered at a Press conference on Thursday.

"I think we felt and he felt that it was productive," said Mr. Scott of the meeting with Mr. Rammell.

"It certainly was very helpful to meet with him at the Labour Party Conference in Bournemouth and then at the Bermuda reception and booth so we were familiar with each other by the time we sat down in Whitehall."

He said a Press conference was being scheduled for tomorrow at which all residual questions will be answered. He said he will also release correspondence which had led to his concerns that Britain may be tightening its colonial grip.

Mr. Scott said that he was aware of Opposition concerns about the taxpayer paying for the trip attended by his wife Olga, Tourism Minister Ren?e Webb and Cabinet Secretary John Drinkwater.

"Any questions are fair game," he said.

"When party members go the PLP does pay for it, but we do have a booth there that promotes business - both tourism and international business," he added. "And it certainly was an opportunity to meet (key officials)".
