Devonshire woman early on Sunday morning.

The 23-year-old Southampton man cannot be named for legal reasons. He was charged in Magistrates' Court with serious sexual assault and with intent to facilitate the commission of serious sexual assault by administering a stupefying thing.

The man is believed to have poured a chemical onto a cloth and held it over the face of the young woman. The alleged assault took place at 3.45 on Sunday morning in Devonshire.

He did not plead to the indictable offence and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
